About S2S

The Stars to Stats team — four college football fans

The S2S team

We’re four college football fans who grew up following recruiting as closely as the games themselves.

Every year we watched the rankings roll out. Two-stars. Five-stars. Blue chips. “Program-changing” classes. And every year, we saw the same conversations play out:

  • The unranked kid who became a star.
  • The 2-star who outperformed everyone.
  • The 5-star who never quite lived up to the hype.
  • Entire classes that looked dominant on signing day… but told a different story four years later.
  • Classes that were overlooked or underrated at the time — but quietly developed into something special.

Over time, we started noticing something else. Certain programs always seemed to get the benefit of the doubt. Blue bloods stayed near the top. Traditional powers were projected to win the offseason before anyone stepped on the field.

That’s not a criticism — it’s the nature of projecting.

But we kept asking the same question:

How did those classes actually turn out?

Not based on stars.
Not based on expectations.
Not based on brand power.
Based on results.

So we built S2S.

Our goal is simple: create a fair, outcome-based system that evaluates recruiting classes after careers have played out. We measure production, longevity, impact, and development — and then re-rank classes based on what actually happened.

No built-in advantages.
No brand bias.
No projection.
Just performance.

Because recruiting rankings tell you what people thought would happen.

We show you what did.
